Saturday Fitness

Okay so I might be laying in bed at the moment. But I did get up around nine, working on load three of laundry, did a load of dishes, got some studying done, ran 2 miles AND swung by the grocery store! — so don’t call me too lazy *wink* – besides dryer will be done in 15 and then I have to get up again. And before I did all THAT, I had a shakeology for breakfast -YUM!

I also wrote out the dates for the next five weeks on our dry erase board. I’m gonna make start recording all my workouts on it as well as mark days that is ate healthy and had shakeology. I think I’ll add a star for healthy eats and a heart for shakeology. I think it will be fun to have a full calendar each week. And then I told myself once i get 7 stars and 7 workouts, I can make crock pot Mac n cheese. I’ve been craving it for awhile but its so terrible for you! So I’m making compromises with myself. Do you do that?

And then most recently I went for a run. Not too long but I’m building back up my stamina. I ran around the neighborhood for a bit and then completed my run at the grocery store. There I bought a lot of veggies and then walked home, about .4 miles. It was pretty great! And then I got home and did about six minute of core work:
  • 10 push ups
  • 30 second plank with straight arms
  • 20 Bicycle crunches with five pound weight
  • 10 push ups
  • 30 second plank on elbows
  • 30 crunches with five pound weight
  • 30 leg in/out thingies with resistance band that I learned from Turbo Fire.
  • 10 push ups
Its only two pm. And in pretty satisfied with my days work. I’m off to make a giant salad for lunch! Hooray!

  1. Why starve yourself thin, when you can lose weight—and maintain that healthy weight loss—just by drinking one Shakeology shake every day?

  2. Well, it’s been a week since I’ve started my Focus T25 workouts and I’m feeling pretty good, so I thought I should probably provide an update on my progress thus far. On the workout calendar, Shaun T refers to Saturday as “STATurday,” where you record your measurements and progress. Now, I think this is a great idea, but I decided to wait to do my measurements until the end of the month. I don’t want to get discouraged if I don’t see any progress after a week. I did, however, do a weigh in and discovered that I had lost 3 lbs! Now depending on your perspective, 3 lbs may seem like not much or too much. However, for me, 3 lbs was great, particularly at the start of a fitness journey. I know that it may be largely due to water weight, but any progress is better than no progress. In general, I aim for 1 – 2 lbs of weight loss a week, which seems to be a healthy drop (although, in general, I’m usually elated with a 0.2 lb drop). So anyway, pretty happy so far with my weight. I’ll be more excited when I do my measurements at the end of the Alpha Cycle, as I feel that measurements are a much better reflection of progress as opposed to weight (due to added muscle and changes in body composition). I don’t like to really focus on weight as I think it can easily derail one’s progress and doesn’t necessarily have an accurate reflection of how you are really doing. Rather, I prefer to focus on how I’m feeling and how my clothes are fitting. Speaking of which, my energy level has been great and I’m feeling really good before, during, and after the workouts. They are short and sweet which gives me more time in the day for me (and my family), which can’t be beat.

I’m glad you like it Lindsey! I think any amount of weight loss is excellent – and besides, its all about inches lost anyways. Or feeling better, stronger, more energized! Everyone has different goals with exercise! And clothes fitting better is a great way to measure progress! I LOVE how short they are! It makes it easy to fit into my super busy med school schedule!
